Hello,

I've just compiled uae 0.8.21 for 68k.
This version is a bit slower than the version 0.8.8 beta 1
from Sam devulder, but can run games such as speedball 2
and seem's to have a better sound support.
The Arexx interface is not fully working, as it was on UAE 0.8.8,
because some functions seem's to have disapear from the main archive ! (Sam what did you wanted to do ?)
but this is not really annoying :
- To change a disk for exemple you'll have to eject the disk first before choosing an other one, while in the 0.8.8 version you only had to choose an other disk image.
- you can no more activate or disactivate the sound during execution.
I had to modify a little bit the execution of the Arexx interface to force uae to open an asl requester to choose the screen you want and force Hires, so please don't replace your old uae 0.8.8 version by this one,
but use this version as a complement of the old version.
If you click on cancel when the ASL requester appear, UAE will run in a window

Here are the parameters I use on my 1Ghz Amithlon to run arkanoid2 at fullspeed with sound support :
- Frame rate : 1
- Memory : 1Mb
- Sound : On , Quality : 16 Bits Stereo, Freq: 22 KHz, Buffer 256 Kb
- FastBlit : On
- Power : 16

Note that if you disable the sound support, with Power=16, the game will run at > 200Fps )
To make the game work at the right speed, you will have to put Power to 1.

I hope to be able to provide you with the 0.8.22 version soon and to correct the problems with the Arexx port

Enjoy this great piece of software,
SixK

Hi SpawnPPC

Well, I only do 68k ports for the moment,
cause uae 68k is fast enought on my amithlon
and should be more faster on a pegasos,
when the Morphos Jit will be active.

I have tested UAE PPC on my PPC603e at 233Mhz,
but the speed was limit to run arkanoid that is one of my fastest amiga games on uae...

UAE really need a new generation amiga to run at full speed.

So actually a PPC version doesn't make much sense, but I hope to be able to make a morphos port soon.

Did you just compile it or did you have
to make any changes? When you made any
changes, can you release the source code?
UAE is licensed under the GPL.

UAE is supposed to compile without any problem on amiga, but I had to modify a bit the sources cause the main archive doesn't seem's really well maintained
I found references to variables that wasn't exists anymore...
So I had to add them.

The last UAE release 0.8.22 run at 3 fps on my amithlon ;(
So even if I contact the UAE maintainers to give them my modifications, it won't be really usefull.

I can release the source code if you need,
I had to make few modification to my includes cause some headers where called several times due to a Gcc bug.

So here is the UAE 0.8.22 source code I have modified, try find my modifications if you need to compile UAE 0.8.21 (the latest 'fast' UAE version)

I've tried running this build of UAE on my 68060/P96/32MB/WB3.1 Amiga, but keep getting a "Not enough memory" error. How much memory does the emulator need? I've managed to clear 27MB for it to use, and only assigned the emulation 1MB (plus 880K for an ADF and 512K for the ROM), but it still refuses to work.

Any ideas?

I hope you use this version it will be faster than UAE 0.8.21 on your 68060

My setup: A3K, Cyberstorm MK3 060/50, CyberVision64
CyberGFX 4.xx (last version)

I noticed 0.8.14 and 0.8.21 does not give any list of options,
when used from shell with "-h", like 0.8.8 does.

Also, using the same prefs-setup in the mui gui, 0.8.14
will run correct "lores" either in window or own screen, while
0.8.21 will "double" the height, so I can only see
half of the "emulated" display, instead of "real 320x256",
I get "320x128", but stretched to fit "320x256".
If I don't remember wrong, it work correct if using "hires",
but it will run to slow in "hires"...

Is it just my setup, or is this a know "feature"?

Last question, just for curiousity, will P96 work on
the amiga-version of UAE, or does it require WinUAE?

Thanks for porting the UAE... Bye...

I have noticed problems in hires too, the screen is not centered very well.
And I never test UAE in lowres.
I'll try too have a look a thoses problems

If you have tested Aga you will notice that UAE have wrong colors. I have look at this problem, but I can't find a solution. (If anybody have an idea...)
Note that AGA is not activable yet in the GUI, but I have modified it to enable AGA.

I don't know if Picasso 96 is activated in my port, I don't think so, but I have never tested.
Actually I only use UAE to play old amiga games.

If you really need Picasso support, I'll make a version with Picasso support.
You will be pleased to hear, I have added lowlevel joystick support in UAE 0.8.22.
You will be able to play UAE games with CD32 Pads (or with a joypad in sound blaster live joystick port ...)
I will release this soon.

Note: I said in another post that UAE 0.8.22 was very slow (around 3 Fps). In fact it is nearly the same speed as 0.8.21, but the GUI doesn't send a good parameter to UAE, that's why it is so slow. Using the 0.8.21 GUI give a good speed.

Naah, that's ok. If it's not activated, leave it alone. No need to spend time on that, as I was just curious how "fast" it would work, since UAE would skip spending cpu-time on emulating native bitplans.

Is there any plans for enhancing the MUI GUI? Like;

Be able to save seperat configs for "each game", also there should be a "comment" line, which will be placed in the file's "filenote" on saved, which is used in the below feature

Have an extra "tab-page", where list of presaved configs are. All presaved configs should be in a "special" subdir, and scanned that dir on startup of GUI, and uses the "filenote" in files to list both filename+comment pr line]
Also, In this "tab-page" you should be able to delete/load/save a config.

Just an idea, but it would be great features, to setup a "database" of the old classic games you play...

Thanks... bye...
